Library Rules & Regulations
Library timings are as advertised at the door of the library.
During these opening hours only one group of students can use the library at a time. Booking of time-slots in advance is possible with the librarian. Ad hoc use of the library only after cross-check with librarian to ensure the library is free.
Library users are to behave in a manner that avoids disturbing other users or damaging to books, reports and other items. In particular this means
- No loud talking;
- No long conversations (even if whispering);
- No eating, drinking or smoking
inside or in front of the library.
Personal books and bags are not allowed into the library and have to be deposited with the librarian upon entry.
Magazines and Journals are only to be read in the library.
Books/Reports/Journals that have been taken out of the shelf are NOT to be put back by the library users! They are to be put on the indicated shelves. Library staff will put them back onto the correct place on the shelves. This avoids misplacing materials and enhances the worth of the library for everybody. Please cooperate.
We are striving to improve our cataloguing system. Please tell library staff if you believe a book at a wrong catalogue position. Your suggestions will be considered.

Terms & conditions for Library Users
Who can borrow books at what cost?
Students, teaching staff and other staff of the College of Natural Resources (internal users) as well as any other person holding a personal library user’s card (external user) are eligible to borrow items form the library.
For internal users borrowing of books is free of cost. All external users will be charged an annual fee of Nu. 50 for obtaining a valid library users card.
What items can be borrowed?
Books can be borrowed from the library by all users.
The maximum number of books that can be borrowed is 2 for diploma students, degree students, non-teaching staff and external users and 5 for teaching staff of CNR.
Reports can be borrowed only in exceptional cases with the written consent from the librarian.
Video films are only issued to internal users. Maximum of 1 video at a time.
Magazines, Journals and reference books are to be read in the library only and cannot be borrowed.
What are the conditions of borrowing?
Any item is issued only upon demonstration of your personal library users card.
Lending period is limited to 2 weeks for students, non-teaching staff and external users and to 1 month for NRTI teaching staff.
The following fines will be applied for items that are overdue. Absence from CNR will not save the user from paying the fines.

Library users are fully responsible for the loss or damage of the books borrowed with her/his library user card. Lost books have to be replaced by an identical copy or to be paid for at a rate of 110% of the original cost (including handling and ordering charges).
How to borrow:
Once you have found the item(s) you wish to borrow, take them to the library staff.
Present your valid library users card.
The library staff will check if you may borrow additional items
Library staff will list each item you borrow on your library users’ card, together with the due date. The due date will also be stamped onto the pocket of the book ID Card.
Return the book to the library by the date due. Bring your library card and, if applicable, any reminder paper you have received.
